Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Prepared Foods Order Writer to join our team at Whole Foods Caf--. As a key member of our prepared foods team, you will be responsible for ordering, replenishing, and merchandising prepared foods products, as well as participating in regional programs for purchasing and promotions.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  
• Purchasing and Replenishment: You will be responsible for purchasing and replenishing food products for preparation, utilizing proper buying procedures to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  
• Inventory Management: You will monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits, controlling spoilage and shrink, and achieving turn goals while participating in inventory activities.
  
• Counter Service and Cooking: You will assist with counter service and cooking as scheduled or as necessary, ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and sanitary working environment.
  
• Communication and Teamwork: You will communicate effectively with the Kitchen Manager/Chef and Team Leader on ordering needs and issues, maintaining positive working relationships with vendors, and working collaboratively with the team to achieve sales targets and maintain financial profitability.
  
• Leadership and Training: You will support leadership in conducting inventories, maintain a clean and sanitary working environment, and participate in training and meetings as required.
  
• Customer Service: You will provide excellent customer service, addressing customer needs in a timely and effective manner, and modeling suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales potential.
  
• Regulatory Compliance: You will follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.

  • Extensive Product Knowledge: A deep understanding of prepared foods products, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, advances, and trends.
    
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate team members on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm.
    
  • Mathematical Skills: Strong basic math skills, with the ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
    
  • Time Management and Organization: Effective time management and organization skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    
  • Work Ethic and Adaptability: A strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency, adapting to changing situations and priorities as needed.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
    
    This role requires:

    • Lifting and Mobility: The ability to lift 50 pounds and perform duties that require standing, walking, and mobility for extended periods.
      
    • Hand Use and Dexterity: The ability to use hands for grasping, manipulating, pushing, and pulling, as well as performing tasks that require fine motor skills.
      
    • Work Environment: The ability to work in a wet and dry environment, with exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
      
    • Shift Flexibility: The ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, with the understanding that this role is a critical component of our prepared foods team and requires a commitment to being available to work a variety of shifts.
