Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of
approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective
negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional
strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an
expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations
across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and
construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations,
environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and
auxiliary/retail operations.Posting SummaryRutgers, The State
University of New Jersey, is seeking a Housing Maintenance Mechanic
for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O).
The position is primarily responsible for the performance of such
mechanical maintenance duties as the examination, dismantling,
repair, reassembly and maintenance of various types of
mechanical/electrical equipment, including refrigeration units,
heating systems, air handling machinery, air conditioners, pumps,
plumbing and steamfitting equipment, boilers, filters, etc.Among
the key duties of this position are the following:Inspects,
repairs, and/or replaces used and defective parts; adjusts,
lubricates and cleans functional parts.May be required to perform
general painting, carpentry, locksmithing, masonry and electrical
duties.Performs preventive maintenance and repair duties.Cleans
shop and work areas.Detects faulty operation of equipment.Reports
questionable conditions to supervisor.Conducts inventory of
equipment, materials and supplies.May give instruction to craft
